Doctors Hospital “ThunderBall” Gala

One of the biggest galas of the season — the Doctors Hospital “ThunderBall” Gala — took place last month. Ugo Colombo’s THE COLLECTION was proud to be a sponsor again this year and they provided the event with a multitude of Porsche displays which included the Macan Turbo, Porsche Boxster GTS, Panamera S E-Hybrid, Cayenne Turbo, Carrera 4 GTS Coupe and the 911 GTS.

The fourth annual Doctors Hospital Gala event followed the legendary James Bond: 007 theme and inside the FIU Arena, the Porsche 911 Turbo was on display and in full theme as it featured the iconic “ThunderBall” logo on the hood.

The highly-anticipated film features the next generation 2016 Audi R8, 2015 Audi TTS and the 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet vehicles alongside the next generation of Avengers characters. The all-new 2nd generation R8 and 3rd generation TTS have, like the Avengers themselves, become icons in popular culture.  The R8, which made its initial debut in Iron Man, returns as an even more powerful supercar, while the iconic Audi TTS makes its big screen debut as a completely redesigned coupe.

Loren Angelo, Director of Marketing for Audi of America, says, “After eight years of successful partnerships with Marvel, Audi aligns with the evolving narrative of the Tony Stark character to showcase the all-new, re-designed 2016 R8. Having been part of the character’s storyline for the past three Iron Man films, it is a perfect fit for Audi to return in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron with Tony Stark driving the iconic supercar in its next generation.”

Ugo Colombo: The Man Who Helped to Build South Florida

ugo-colombo-issuu-magazineUgo Colombo was recently featured in an Executive South Florida Magazine article exploring the visionaries who built South Florida.

The piece explores Ugo Colombo’s history in Miami which began when he graduated from the University of Miami in 1987 with a MBA.  Ugo Colombo also showed his talent for deal-making in the early 1980s by purchasing the Imperial condominium.  “The Imperial’s original developer failed to survive, so [Ugo Colombo] ‘purchased about a third of the units there with FDIC financing, and [he] basically resold them…’”   He then acquired Villa Regina with Trammel Crow Company and made extensive renovations.

After graduation Ugo Colombo formed his diversified real estate company, CMG  Group, with two partners and he said they first acted as a “condominium and apartment management company.”  By the early 1990s, however, Ugo Colombo turned towards development and he planned the 41-story Bristol Tower, “the first high-rise condominium built on Brickell Avenue after the early 1980s….”   Boosted by the success of Bristol Tower, Ugo Colombo built the 51-story Santa Maria on Brickell in 1997 and today his focus is on the much anticipated Brickell Flatiron.

ugo-colombo-top-professionals-brickell-magazineUgo Colombo was recently explored in an article from Brickell Magazine.  “In addition to conceptualizing, designing and overseeing the execution of quality buildings that people enjoy living in,” the Brickell piece states, “Ugo Colombo sees his role as a ‘lifestyle and community developer’ like none other.”

This Ugo Colombo goes on to explore Colombo’s early experiences including his first solo development, the 147-unit Bristol Tower in 1992.  “I learned so much with that project,” says Ugo Colombo.  “The fact that is looks just as modern today as it did over 20 years ago is a great feeling of accomplishment.

The piece goes on to explore Colombo’s most recent project, Brickell Flatiron, a project that continues his practice of enhancing community by incorporating elements of culture into his properties.  “Whether it be through art or a restaurant like Zuma, I like to make sure a property is left with something unique and special that everyone can enjoy and appreciate,” says Ugo Colombo.

Construction Set To Begin on Brickell Flatiron

ugo-colombo-brickell-flatironThe CMC Group is in the final stages of preparation to begin construction on their long-anticipated Brickell Flatiron building in downtown Miami.

The developer filed a 25-page Declaration of Condominium for the project in November, with maintenance fees coming in at just above 70-cents per square foot. A permit to remove and relocate old growth trees has been approved by the city, and the popular bar and eatery Baru Urbano served its’ last patrons earlier this year. A parking lot that still functions on the Flatirons land will close at the end of the week, and demolition and construction will begin soon after.

The CMC Group bought the land in October of 2013 for $21 million, and the project’s completion date is currently expected to be 2017.
