The 10-story Beach House 8 contains sophisticated, luxury Miami beach-front condos designed by the Miami-based Arquitectonica.  They feature 5000 square feet of living area expansive terraces located in the heart of Miami, and the building includes a fitness center, pool and 24-hour concierge.

Ocean Grande Properties, a joint venture between Ugo Colombo of CMC Group and Valerio Morabito of Morabito Properties recently sold the fourth- and fifth-floor units to a single buyer, Beach House 500 LLC.

BH4 is the larger of the two units.  It has 1,049 square feet of exterior space and 3,783 square feet of interior space. BH5 has the same interior layout of BH4, but has a slightly smaller terrace. Both units have four bathrooms and four bedrooms.  That price tag for the units combined equates to about $1,735 per square foot.

The sale of BH4 and BH5 follows the $14 million deal by Mario Garnero for the penthouse. Garnero is chairman and principal shareholder of the financial firm, Brasilinvest Group.  The penthouse has more than 6,000 square feet of outdoor living space and includes a private pool.

Haute Living held its annual Haute 100 dinner earlier this month at the new Faena Hotel. The event honored the most influential and philanthropic people in Miami (the list was released in Haute Living Miami’s April-May print edition).

Movie director Brett Ratner was honored with Haute Living’s “Outstanding Achievement Award” and partners of the night included Dom Perignon, Hublot, Douglas Elliman, Prestige Imports, Jet Smarter, and VULT.

Guests – including Ugo Colombo – arrived at the Art Deco-inspired Saxony Bar after passing through “the cathedral” – the Faena’s splendid lobby that contains murals evoking imagery from Alan Faena’s Argentina.

Coco Simone sang various songs as guests filed into the theater.  They enjoyed a sumptuous, four-course dinner, and then Anthony Shriver took to the stage to talk about his friend and Outstanding Achievement award recipient – Hollywood director and producer, Brett Ratner.

Ugo Colombo: Miami Mover

Spring Home & Design Issue

Source: Indulge

In the “Spring Home Edition” of Indulge, Ugo Colombo is named as one of the people who move Miami.

In this interview with Ugo Colombo he discusses his first paying job, his philosophy on building, his greatest accomplishment (Bristol Tower), his thoughts on trying new things, and he reveals something many people don’t know about him (he doesn’t consider himself an extrovert).

As a mover in Miami, Ugo Colombo also shares his views about the evolution of Miami saying:

“In Miami 30 years ago, there was nothing….But I saw the potential of the location.  I always believed Miami would grow and become a major metropolis because of its proximity and appeal to Europe and Latin America.  We just needed to build the infrastructure for people to come.  Today, Miami is probably surpassing the quality of life in Los Angeles.”

Ugo Colombo Discusses Old World, Fast Cars, and the Right Designs

Ugo Colombo was recently featured in an executive profile for the South Florida Business Journal where he discusses Italy, his love for cars, and his philosophy behind architecture and design in his real estate properties.

Ugo Colombo – who was born in Milan, Italy – says Italy still has connections to the Old World while America is more progressive (he came to the United States for college in 1983).

Mr. Colombo also enjoys racing cars in America (and beyond), and he has competed professionally on some of the world’s biggest tracks.  When asked how he felt after experiencing a car crash, Ugo Colombo replied by saying: “If you fall from the horse, the best thing you can do is just get back on the horse and keep going.”

He also spoke about the importance of design in all of his properties.  “Designing, particularly a condo, the architecture is the functionality, so I look at designing the building from the inside out,” he says.  “I look at the latest designs [and then] I direct the architect and interior designer in the right direction.”

Ugo Colombo: The Importance of Quality and Excellence

Ugo Colombo “insists on quality, and it shows in every project that he takes on,” says an article from JuMiami Real Estate.  “He chooses properties with only the very best views of the city and the ocean, and he also insists that his designers use only the highest quality materials.”  It is this attention to quality that has given Ugo Colombo his reputation for achieving excellence!

One recent area of excellence is Ugo Colombo’s Brickell Flatiron.  Brickell Flatiron, which broke ground in March of this year, is selling units and Ugo Colombo is pleased with this pace.  He is certain all Brickell Flatiron units will be sold by the time it opens.  It’s “a sign of a healthy market,” says Colombo and it is “his insistence on the best quality is what he believes will help him to sell all of his units at Brickell Flatiron….”

Ugo Colombo and the Next Architectural Age

Bisnow is always “intensely curious about commercial real estate” and they’ve recently spent time with Ugo Colombo to explore their shared curiosity about the next wave of architectural changes.

“For the last 25 years, Ugo Colombo has been known for introducing a sleek glass look and European flair to Miami condo buildings,” the Bisnow piece titled “Ugo’s Next Big Thing” begins. “Now he’s about to create another seismic wave.”

And what is the next wave?  Consider Ugo Colombo’s latest project:  Brickell Flatiron and all of its curves!   Ugo Colombo is “…ready to break ground for the 64-story Brickell Flatiron, featuring accentuated curvilinear shapes, and floors with different forms and detail intersecting each other on alternating levels” the article notes.  “[T]he way we see it, Miami is on the verge of transcending the Glass Age into the Wavy Age or…the Curvaceous Age.”

Brickell Flatiron architect, Luis Revuelta, discusses how the building is meant to have a “kinetic feel,” one that gives onlookers a sense of movement.  “[O]n the eastern side facing the bay, Luis says it will look like the wind from the water is hitting the building, and on the side facing the city, lines will purposely be flatter and more linear.”

While the Curvaceous Age is soon upon us, Ugo Colombo reminds us that form should never completely trump function.  “[I]t’s not so simple as designing it to look cool—it also has to be functional, and Ugo is known for the highest-quality interior finishes and design. A building is ‘lived from inside,’ he likes to say, and structures shouldn’t interfere.”
